If you have had your opening to the psychic life, at some point along the way, you may have asked, “Is psychic phenomena real?” Psychic work and spiritual development or any type of enlightenment practice opens us up to different realities. When this first starts to happen, it can be confusing and de-stabilizing. The reason for this is it starts to break apart old beliefs, patterns and what we thought to be true. Along with this comes a break down of boundaries and comfort, often shaking loose a ton of old attitudes about the self and life.
And at the same time, there is still the old conventional world. All the while, you are fully open and walking in both worlds, aware to energy while living in the physical mundane world. Many people express a sense of isolation or being different. Empaths often feel as though they cannot “be” out in the world because they are sensitive.
Understanding Psychic Energy
Understanding this energy and why you may be opening up can help. But what can really help is to apply a sense of equanimity. This is the ability to apply mental calmness, composure, and evenness of temper, especially in a difficult situation. Recognizing “this is how IT IS in the now” provides you with a degree of self-acceptance which nurtures your emergence of your truth along your path. Loving things as they are for you right now can help you re-center, bringing you immediate peace. You will also notice during these moments that you depend less upon others to confirm or validate your newfound sense of self, or rather your true self.
Generally what I notice is a person is often struggling because they are having trouble accepting the way things are presenting themselves in their world. Their emotions and thoughts take over and suddenly they cannot SEE that these situations are simply validating WHAT IS. “It is just information,” as I like to say. But they are too busy riding the emotional roller coaster or traveling along with the thought stories they have created.
Emotions block psychic work
Attaching or emotionally investing in this way keeps you from staying open psychically.
Read that again… it’s the key to helping you move forward on YOUR path.
Equanimity or the ability to stay calm in the eye of the storm are necessary for getting your messages clearly.
If you are flipping out all over the place, trust me… you are missing the bigger picture! 
Psychic Triggers affect energy
As we become aware of energy, our true self and others that extend beyond our physical boundaries, we recognize the need for mental and emotional self regulation. We get to practice in everyday life as we face common challenges which may trigger outbursts. And I dare to ask, when is it that you usually get your answers to a problem? Is it in the middle of your freak-out moment, or is it once you have calmed down and reached a state of realizing “this is just how it is right now?” Often when you are able to accept the situation at hand, your psychic messages start to flood in.
With time, we begin to realize that the emotions don’t give us true information. As we evolve, we naturally connect and attune to energy. It is always around us, accessible at every moment. I am suggesting that our sensitivities advance as we evolve. And as an individual is able to become more and more okay with “this is just how it is right now,” they will develop spiritually and psychically. This is why equanimity is needed now more than ever as a tool for emotional and mental stability.
Achieving a calm state through meditation
Employing equanimity has been important in the work I do with clients. It allows me to stay grounded while receiving information when the sitter may still have some emotions, beliefs, and programming yet to shed. And I am able to share simple calming meditations with the sitter so they may practice mental calmness as well. The benefits are revealed almost immediately, as they express a sense of peace, calm, connection and confidence which wasn’t there before. It is in these moments that they remember their true path, where they are succeeding, how they are helping or how they are achieving their goals. Without practicing equanimity, they would never receive these truths. And the best part is, the need for outer validation falls away.
