Learn what the spirit of the mighty lion has in store for you!
Recently a friend of mine passed away and during a meditation I saw her walking into the afterlife with a lion. I suddenly remembered that about a year ago, my martial arts sifu had also passed away, and in a meditation, he too was being ushered into the afterlife with a giant white lion. Was this a coincidence? As a symbol of deathless courage and strength, it is no wonder that this fearless creature aids spirits as they pass from one world to the next. Their majesty and bravery have long been held as a symbol of protection and strength on warrior’s coat of arms, and carved statues are commonly found guarding palaces, bridges, temples and tombs. This has made the lion a true symbol of a leader not only on Earth and also in the spiritual realm.
Symbolic Meaning of Lions
Connecting Earth and Heaven, the lion bravely walks between both worlds acting as a symbol of strength, fearlessness, bravery and royalty. Seen as the lord of the land, or king of the beasts, the lion has become a favorite symbol of leadership and protection. Symbolic meaning of lions has long revolved around protection as they were viewed as guardians of the dead as well as guardians of palaces, doorways, shrines and thrones. The lion has speed, is alert and has power. This represents all that is majestic. His powerful roar is often associated with fearlessness. This animal knows how to get what he wants, and he protects his pride from outside invasion. In nature, they have the quick ability to knock off balance the life of the enemy or prey.

When we observe the lion in nature, he reminds us to hold our heads high, even in difficult times or in times of conflict. Always conduct yourself with dignity and know your strength comes from within. Stand tall, and remember your birthright of power. If he comes to you as a symbol, then it might be time to tap into your own authority, learn to lead others with a loving heart. Understand that it takes courage to tap into the wise part of you that knows what’s best. Maybe it’s time to defend something that is very important to you, and the lion reminds you to have a courageous heart and defend it fiercely. Believe, have courage, and trust.
