Building the Bridge to Spirit World
When people come to me because they have a “feeling” that spirits are visiting, it’s usually because they are entering a new phase in their life. Our loved ones on the other side love to help us and because they are connected to us, they will “hang out” until we have mastered our next challenge. Their presence offers us the reminder that the best way to know our next steps forward is to learn how to master being a spirit in a physical body. And this requires work of us as we learn how to perform and master the art of Oneness (being concerned for the whole).
Establishing Connection to Your Spirit Self
While connecting to spirits can help provide us with guidance, it means nothing if you first don’t know how to establish your own connection to your Spirit Self. Picture Spirit World as this big “light in the sky,” a place of Oneness and higher wisdom, and your Spirit Self is the direct line to that light. If you are not accessing this Spirit Self while in your physical body, then you could be feeling sad, lost, confused and alone (disconnected).
If, on the other hand, you are building the bridge between Source (the light, Oneness, where souls return) and the physical world, then you will find it much easier to make decisions from a “higher road” place. When you tap in to this connection, you will be given divine wisdom and offered guidance which takes your soul’s path (as well as all others’ paths) into account. And this is really the beauty behind practicing “connection.” As you take the time to connect, divine wisdom enters you naturally and you understand and feel your purpose more strongly. When you connect in this way, you are entering a state of Oneness, meaning, you will impact who you are meant to impact, help who you are supposed to help, get the job you are supposed to get, and be in the relationships you are meant to be in.
What are the signs that you are disconnected from Spirit?
- You will feel like a zombie, an empty shell walking around doing work that doesn’t excite you and staying in relationships that deplete you.
- You will feel dull, lackluster, sad, and might even be avoiding work or people.
- The people around you tend to make you feel tired, angry or aggravated (which is not their fault by the way, and I will explain this soon!)
- You have physical symptoms showing up in the body, meaning you are resisting connection and change in your self.
- You feel clueless, confused, doubtful, worried, anxious and cloudy.
Disconnection is real, and I believe it’s the reason our loved ones try so hard to help you know they are there. They can often be your first step towards building the bridge to “the other side.” And while they love to help, the connection to them is not where the bridge ends. They are part of a much bigger picture. I can’t tell you how many times it has taken a loved one’s death in the physical world to help awaken those here to their Spirit Self. It helps those in the physical world to realize that they are spirits taking a ride in a physical body. This then leads them to beg the question… “So why am I here? Why was I left behind?”
I can’t tell you I know the answer to this for sure, but I do know that when people explore those questions with a sense of curiosity, it opens them up to something much greater (a higher purpose not yet found???). I have also witnessed many family members go through the steps of loss of a loved one and they come to realize that their loved one is merely holding out a hand, a way to connect… but in order to connect, one must surrender fully, and only then will they begin to feel guided… feel better…
We are all in this together. Even the people who aggravate you, anger you, disappoint you, etc. They are playing a very significant role. But it is only when you learn to get quiet and connect to your Spirit Self that you will start to fully grasp the message these antagonists are providing. In the case of a mom I met with recently, she is feeling angry every time her daughter acts out in public because she isn’t getting her way. We discovered that mom is allowing her energy to “blend” with her daughter’s, and so she is feeling all the emotions of her frustrated daughter as she learns the heavy lesson that happiness does not come from our wishes being fulfilled from the outside world, rather, it is found from within. Mom is experiencing the anger and sadness, rage and frustration, just as the daughter is experiencing it!
During the session, we discovered that mom misses having a matriarch in the family who can just give her the right guidance 😉 and sure enough, her grandmother came through. But grandma did not give her an “answer.” Rather she offered up the feeling of being connected to a calm, peaceful state (what I call sitting in your spirit). As you can see, grandma lovingly taught her granddaughter how to fish rather than just handing her fish! She showed her that it means more to stand in your spirit while someone experiences their own difficult life lessons. And this will be the perfect example to her own daughter about where peace and happiness comes from. As long as mom plays with this practice, she will eventually master being in her spirit. And funny enough, she is working her way through promotions at work as well. She will most likely need to be centered and calm as she manages people and situations at work. As she surrenders to her connection to her spirit, she will naturally find success in her personal and professional life.
Tips for Connecting to Your Spirit
- One of the most simple ways to access your connection to your spirit is to remember what it felt like before you were in the womb. Before you entered physical form, you were in spirit state. Remember what that felt like… take a moment to picture it or feel it.
- Change your rate of breath. You cannot be upset if you are breathing deeply. If it helps, stop the situation and simply focus on the tip of your nose and the breath entering and the breath exiting.
- Take the breath exercise a step further and when you breath in, say the words, “Present moment” in your mind. As you breath out, say the words, “Wonderful moment.” This practice will take you to the present moment instantly. This will help you open up to awareness about what IS in the current moment. Simply notice.
- Meditate! Sit quietly and use the breathing exercises above to initiate the meditation. Then ask to be connected directly to Source. Keep focusing on this word, Source, and then allow it to permeate your entire body. Feel it merge with your cells, your spirit, your heart and your mind.
- Ask for Guidance- Once you are connecting, ask in your mind or out loud for guidance. Then simply wait… wait for the right person, a sign, help from a stranger, help from a loved one on the other side, help from an angel… the list goes on and on. The universe offers unlimited options and help if you are open!
In any case, reaching a place of calm is the best way to your connection to your spirit state. Many people think that calm and peace come from connecting, but actually, without you deciding to be calm and peace, you will never establish a real connection to your Spirit. Your essential nature remembers how to do this naturally, so begin by exploring ways that work best for you!
Much love to you as you connect!
