Tools to Keep Your Energy High
I recently took up a martial art form called wing chun. The sifu of our class passed away 2 weeks ago and now when I practice or meditate, he often comes through to me and shares beautiful insights with me. When he passed, I saw him on the other side with some of the ancient masters of wing chun. He wanted to learn some of the things he was not able to learn here on Earth. Much of what he is learning is ancient wisdom. I did not realize that wing chun had a much broader message until just recently when Sifu came to me and told me that it is very important to RELAX completely when practicing this martial art. YOU MUST NOT EXPEND YOUR ENERGY. In class, we practice punches and blocks at a very close range. We stand about arms length apart from one another for hours and practice specific forms but at the same time, the hands and arms are almost always in contact with the partner so that you can feel their energy and where they are going to go next. While you are doing this, you are supposed to make simple movements with the body which allows the energy to flow very simply. The point to this is that if you were in a fight, your opponent would expend a great deal of their energy and you would not. Your energy would stay high, and as a result, you stay in a healthy, peaceful state.
So in meditation I asked Sifu why it was important that we grasp this idea of staying relaxed. It was then that a flood of information came through about our energy and how important it is to conserve that energy and what that energy means to us. We are energy. Our spirit is an energetic body and it matches up to a physical body to have this complete experience. Your energy, or chi, resides in you as your energy body, or spirit. The chi body matches up with the human body and they work as a unit while you have your experience here on Earth. One of the most beautiful things about this union is that when you come here for this experience, you have an immediate gauge (your physical body) that helps you understand when you are entering a place of expending too much chi (good) energy. When you are just a spirit on the other side, you do not have the benefit of a body talking to you and telling you when something is off. THIS IS WHY WE COME TO EARTH. We come here as a CHOICE to have the physical experience so that we can learn to be in our spirit and be at peace. When we CHOOSE PEACE, we are making the choice to not waste our energy on negative thoughts and bad feelings. Instead, we can choose to flow and be an instrument of our spirit and reside in a positive place.
The body and spirit work as one unit. Understand that when you consciously make the choice to harbor bad feelings and think negatively, you are expending your good chi and your spirit starts to slip into the background, becoming dimmer and dimmer. Soon your body starts to realize that the spirit does not want to exist or reside in a state of peace in this physical place, and so the body puts out warning signs… have you ever noticed that when you worry a lot, you sleep worse. How about headches, backaches, and stomach aches? Your internal thoughts and self talk will not only DECREASE YOUR ENERGY, they will affect your mood, compromise your sleep, interrupt pleasure in your relationships, create unnecessary anxiety for you and possibly cause your health to deteriorate. You may end up going to a doctor or therapist, and in turn spending lots of money. Your mental health or physical health will become triggered, and most doctors solutions to this will be drugs or many visits to them so that you can talk to them about your problems (MORE OF WHAT YOU DO NOT NEED!!!)
You body is a gift. It TELLS you when something is up or wrong. You can learn to listen to it by recognizing when you don’t feel right and then ask what might be the reason why your body is TALKING to you.
This is why we meditate. It provides a space where you can become quiet and peaceful and allow thoughts to float by. Once the thoughts disappear, you can ask your body what it wants to reveal to you. What is the reason you are having this symptom? If you allow the answer, most likely you will see that it stems from a negative thought or feeling you had. Would you rather spend time and money with a doctor and take drugs (which can give you even more side effects, which by the way is your body telling you that you’re REALLY NOT GETTING IT)? Or would you rather become still and peaceful, let go of the negative thought, and learn to reside in your spirit more and more? It’s a CHOICE!
All my love as you learn to listen to your body and spirit!
